I know I have been very slack in not letting you know how our Tarquin is going, but this should set things right! Tarquin is, in a word, magnificent. I have never known a cat like him - as Howard (and everyone else who has spent time with him) puts it - he's more like a dog. Meaning that he comes when we call him, first time every time. Now bearing in mind that our block is 5.5 acres that is quite a task! He has only spent 1 night outside (we just about stayed up all night listening for him) - and he has not done it since! He has a collar with 2 bells on it so we can usually hear him if he is around the immediate yard and sheds. As you can see from the pictures, he made friends with our daughter, Piper, straight away - these pictures were taken the 1st night we had him and he has slept with her ever since. My God he is tolerant - Piper wraps him in blankets and plays babies with him, doesn't dress him yet (something to look forward to, I'm sure). Tarquin has never been sincere in trying to get the bird, he just loves playing at doing it. Buster is pretty good at nipping his tail or ears - Tarquin usually replies with a few right hooks to the side of Buster's head. But neither one is ever hurt. Kelly, my Lhasa Apso (dog) sorts both of them out - growling at Tarquin and then stepping on Buster's tail to stop him as well. We don't really need TV here, out pets are constantly cracking us up. Tarquin has also worked out how to open the food cupboard where his biscuits live - can pull the box off the second shelf (this requires a finely tuned balancing act), open the spout and stick his paw inside to get at the biscuits!! He also loves sitting/lying on my shoulders (just like a living fur wrap) and usually wants to do this when I am vaccuming or cooking tea - sounds very hygenic, doesn't it? He just loves sticking beaking and being where we are, doing (or trying to) what we are doing. This morning he was sitting up beside Howard as he checked the oil and water in his truck before going to work, and just loves sitting on my lap when I am putting on makeup (that's another story!). I'm sure I have left something out. Oh yes - Howard and Rohan (nextdoor neighbour) have nicknamed Buster and Tarquin - "Crazy Cat and Wild Eagle". If you ever watched "F Troop" on TV, they were Red Indians and quite hopeless at that!!!
I have been far too slack on the
email of late, my apologies! I just
wanted to drop you a line to say hello, and to let you know that Moby
(Jack) and Atticus (Batty) are both well. They are now absolutely HUGE,
covered in fur (they used to be a bit bald in some places) and are still
as
active, curious and naughty as ever : ) I have been taking lots of photos
recently, so once I can get them into an emailable format I will send you
some.
Atticus keeps getting into trouble for breaking things (he likes to be on
top of shelves, dressers, benches) and he has also developed a taste for
butter. I left the frypan on the stove after cooking some mushrooms the
other night - and after hearing a rasping sound from the kitchen, went out
to find him cleaning it up for me. Moby is becoming a bit more
adventurous, and loves dive-bombing his brother and having a good play
fight on the floor with him. he is still scared of the vacuum cleaner and
hair dryer though! Both of them are very healthy and happy, and I am
still crazy about them both.
I have been meaning to send off a
couple of photos for ages, and just
haven't managed it. Anyway, here is our little dreamboat. The first one
she is with her teddy, I gave this to her when she first arrived, I know
it is a puppy, but it was so soft I couldn't resist, Arwen loves it and
snuggles up with it all the time. I took this one the other day,., she was
sitting with me in my office, and I thought I would take a photo, curious
little girl that she is, she had to get her face right in the camera :) I
remember when I spoke to you on the phone before we got her, you told me
that one of her relatives used to climb in the bath with her owner. Well,
it looks like it has passed on. At first Arwen used to sneak through the
curtain and sit at the edge of the shower stall, in a pool of water mind
you. She gradually became more confident until finally, just last night,
she scared the life out of me! I had my eyes closed washing my hair out
when I felt something brush against my leg, and there was a wet bedraggled
cat under the shower! She didn't look overly impressed with it, but she
didn't get out either. Needless to say I made sure she was shut out of the
bathroom this morning for my shower :) We are so incredibly happy
with her. We love her personality and her playfulness. She is so smart, if
for some reason I forget to keep her bowl filled with IAMS - shock horror,
she comes up to me, sits up on her hind legs and grabs my leg with her
front paws. She will just sit there holding onto me until I look at her.
When I look at her, she will pat at my legs. She keeps doing this until I
go and fill her bowl back
up. She is actually very quiet, she rarely meows. Her purr is loud
enough to make up for it. We love her so much we have already
started talking about getting another, I remember you telling me that
would happen too :) We are still in the talking stages, but I will let you
know if we make a definite decision. Thanks for our wonderful pet.
It is about time we let you know how Yoda is fairing in the west! Yoda is less impressed with his surroundings as there is a severe lack of lizards!!! Consequently he has become a good fly catcher; his technique is really quite clever, he first chats to them almost assuring them that it will all happen very quickly and then pounce! We had a baby boy last October called Rupert and Yoda had a few issues with his younger brother. We lavished Yoda with more love (was that possible) but he seemed deeply wounded that mum and dad needed more than himself!! Thankfully, he has come round and he now allows Rupert to touch him and has never become tetchy. He has even woken me up on the odd occasion when I have my mother ear has failed to hear Rupert crying! Yoda looks forward to Rupert's naptime as he knows that he has open access to mum and dad without any interruption!
Tibs is now sleeping with Annalise half the night, and after being squashed by her, moves in with Annie till 6 a.m.. Cute! She is a darling!
Arwen has settled in wonderfully and we are very happy with her, her curls are starting to come through now.
Well Tarquin, the Wonder Puss is the hit of the season or at least, a giant hit with everyone we know and our whole family - this includes bird and dogs!!! The upstairs animals(?) being; Kelly the Lhasa Apso dog, Buster the bird and Tarquin are now know officially as "The 3 Stooges" - you can catch their act everyday, all day and you are guaranteed to leave with a pain in your tummy from laughing too hard - true!! They are the funniest group of animals I have ever come across, and play their own version of Tag or is it Piggy in the Middle??? Haven't quite worked that one out - but boy, is it fun to watch... Kelly and Tarquin have also developed the habit of swapping biscuits at breakfast time which seems to work for both of them. Kelly is a very tolerant doggy and even shares our bed with Tarquin as long as he stays under the doona so she can pretend to own the top of the bed, of course! Buster is not scared of Tarquin at all (bit of a worry, that) and goes for his tail whenever he turns his back. They seem to have a pretty healthy respect for each other.
I
wouldn’t trade him for anything…he is much loved believe me…I
now get phone calls regularly from about 3 of my friends that have fallen
under his spell, just to see how he is!! I feel superfluous! I have offers to
babysit coming out of my butt!! It’s quite lovely how everyone adores him
though…he is super cuddly at night too which is so lovely…excellent
company…he’s so funny Alison…if he’s curled up on me on the couch
& I have to get up to answer the phone, or go to the toilet – I just
pick him up like a baby & he hangs upside down in my arms wherever I
go…he doesn’t jump off…very cute…he’s like a rag doll cat now!
Thought since I had the photos here already, I might as well send them. She is just adorable and we couldn't be happier
Just wanted to let you know that his lordship is just fine and dandy! He has charmed every living thing in this house and is gradually realising that Buster the bird is not dinner!! A water pistol works wonders! Other than that, he sleeps with Piper and is very patient with her lugging him around the house. Kelly our little dog, is very taken with him also and even lets him drink from her bowl. Tarquin puts on this growling act when Kelly goes near him - but that's all he does - I think they will be great mates. Today was my first day back at work (& Piper's at daycare) after getting Tarquin and we both missed him terribly!! When we got home, he was pretty excited to see us and celebrated by going to sleep on my lap while I read the paper!! The only animal with it's nose out of joint is the bird, believe it or not! He is sitting on my shoulder at this moment growling at me and Tarquin is sitting at my feet. Take care and thank you for the wonderful little guy.
Just to let you know, Arwen's incision is almost invisible. It has has healed beautifully, if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't even notice it. Thanks again for our beautiful kitten :)
Banner & Harrison had a big day today turning 1 and Jazzi is in 18 days. They're all doing so well and we can't thank you enough. You have bred such beautiful boys.
Alison,
he is an absolute credit to you guys…he sleeps beside my throat every night
purring away, and follows me all around the house…I can’t promise I won’t
spoil him (it’s too bloody late for that!!), but I promise I will look after
him…he is so funny with the horses – very brave…
Roux
has developed an appetite for asparagus and will happily eat 6-8 pieces a day!
There does not appear to be anything wrong with her digestion as she also eats a
range of other food also. Any thoughts? She also loves to play "fetch"
with her favourite plastic stick. Kato
is still small with minimal fur, but very cheeky. She is also something of a
hunter, so it is beware to any small insect that makes its way inside!
Yes they are both very well and happy. KL is a little cooler than Singapore and
they seem to enjoy that - also our house has stairs which provide hours of fun.
Thought that you would like to see what 3 of your boys are up to!!! I wish I was a cat. They have a great life!!! I still can't believe that Jazzi is only 2 weeks younger than Harrison & Banner. They are like giants compared to him. Is it something I'm feeding them????
Transferring the boarding money across tonight. Thank you for looking after Yoda. He told all about his terrific holiday in the car on the way back! Will keep in touch (now we have our camera).
Here
are my boys. They
have just bought so much joy and laughter to
our
lives it isn't funny. Nor was it when they broke my $180.00 lamp.
I wasn't cross.
The first thing Darren asked me was "were the boys
alright",
so I well and truly know who rules the roost in this family!!! Thank you Alison,
they are so well adjusted and social with everyone
and I think that has lots to do with the first 12 weeks of their lives
I am so in love with her!!! She sleeps under my covers every night - with just her head on the pillow. I will send you some pictures soon. Thank you so much for her!
Just
a short update to let you know that Merlin and Claudius are both doing well.
We recently purchased an exercise treadmill and it came in a huge box. For
the past few days the huge box has been lying on it's side in the hallway
because it's the toy of the moment for Merlin and Claudius. We'll
have to move it soon as we have to sort of walk around it everytime we walk down
the hall, but I can forsee a few howls of protest when we do. P.S:
The most-favoured plaything of both Merlin and Claudius continues to be any old
stick that we pick up in the backyard. If we hold one end in our hand and
drag the other end across the ground they'll both exhaust themselves chasing it
around for ages... I was told by a friend that he knows someone else with a
Devon Rex which also loves playing with sticks.
I just want to tell you how much i love my boy Jasper. He is the light of my life. He has the most wonderful temperament. He loves cuddles, pats and snuggling on laps but he is not a bored or lazy cat. Oh no, he is inquisitive and friendly and energetic. He races up and down the stairs and sends me into gales of laughter!! He was perfectly litter trained from the time i brought him from your house and we have never had an accident. He now loves his harness because he knows that he is going somewhere exciting. He travels well in the car - no more crying:) I took him to a friend's house for a lunch party and he had a ball running around her place. He is growing so quickly. He seems more like an adolescent now than a baby. His fuzz is growing too. I have a touch of asthma - once or twice a week. Nothing serious. I have been recommended a better vacuum cleaner and i intend on getting an air filter before summer. Otherwise all is well!!
Hope all is well with you just a short note to tell you every thing is fine with Trevor he sends his love . He has grown so much and is the very special little person( cat ) in our house My girls are constantly battling over who is taking him to bed at night but he seem to love all the attention. he love to play fetch and is quite the character. Amelia (2) and Trevor are insuperable during the day when the elder girls are at school they just hang around and play with each other . Hope all is well with you and business it booming sorry haven't been in touch but our computer decided to fry itself and so lost all e-mail addresses so finally thought to catch you on the net Trevor was is nearly a year old and of course all my girls want to have a party so hope fully will get some party shots
Kato
& Roux are doing well and exceptional good natured. We are all moving to KL,
Malaysia next week. International travelling cats, but they don't seem to mind
Little
Jazzi and Tobi are doing extremely well, best mates. My husband never said that
a cat is beautiful, but when he saw Jaz he was beside himself : he could not
stop telling me how absolutely beautiful the "black" Devon was. He
never let me breed Devons when I started, he said they were ugly and he would
not have any in the house...now he says Jazzi is the most beautiful cat he has
ever seen...hehehehe...and my Agatha adoreds him too - she sleeps with both of
them from the first day, she absolutely adores the Devons. She just cannot stop
kissing them!!!
Jasper is helping me type at the moment. He is absolutely lovely. He cried almost the whole way home and only stopped when the car stopped. When i let him out of the box he raced around investigating this and investigating that!!! I thought he would be more nervous but he was too busy claiming the house as his own. I get the feeling that he enjoys being king pin. He is incredibly cuddly and slept the first night in the crook of my shoulder and neck. His favourite toy is a bit of crumpled paper and he hasn't had any accidents at all. He seems to prefer the covered litter tray to the uncovered one. He is delighting people with his playfulness - I have brought him to work this morning to meet some people and he hasn't been fazed at all. The only thing he hasn't really liked is the harness. I have put the harness on three times for about 5 minutes at a time and it really cramps his style! i hope he will eventually get used to it. I forgot to ask. When should i do the next flea treatment? We don't seem to have fleas in the house but there are other cats nearby and i would like to keep a preventive going.
You cannot expect from a new kitten to be perfect straight away - he needed to learn where the litter box is and what it looks like, also he needs to know he is safe when he jumps in the litter box. I saw them yesterday - Tobi followed him everywhere and I bet he did not even leave him alone, so Jaz had no chance to look for the litter box. Jaz needed to have some time for himself in the new environment. he did extremely well though - within a day he did so much! And he loves Agatha from the first moment he walked out of the cage, Aggi really likes him in every way too. He is more calm, Tobi is more hight up. they even have different type - which is wounderful. But Aggi always loved black cats, her first cat was black too - she chose her, so she is glad she can have a black Devon now. Everybody who saw Jaz loves him. he had a very busy day yesterday with Aggi's friends coming over to see the kitten - she said he cuddled with everybody, the girls put him in their jumpers. I hope so - there were no fights or major problems, not even hissings, Tobi just wants to play with him but Jaz needs space til he learns about the new home. Aggi sais Jaz seems to be the dominant one, he stands up for himself and when Aggi played with both of them Jaz pushes himself first. So he will be OK. I think everything went extremely good there, I am very happy. Jaz uses the litter box, eats extremely well and plays a lot - he does not sleep much, he just wants to look around. he definitely is beautiful, you cannot wish a better one. I gave him lots of cuddles and kisses last night, I just cannot get away from him when I am there
I'll
drop you a line to let you know that the Fine Fat Funny & Fantastic Keanu is
doing well. He is the most intelligent animal we have ever seen,he is
computer literate plays the piano and keeps us all on our toes.He settled in
after about two hours and has taken over the place, one day when we can we will
send you a photo if we are quick enough. The last couple of weeks his
toilet habits haven't been the best you might have some suggestions on this.
I
rang Agatha last night to hear the kitten news, because I could not visit her
without the car and I finished work late anyway. She was upset, because the
kitten urinated in the donut instead of the litter box. I told her that he is
confused, needs his kitty litter he used to at your place (I bought some
breeders choice for him and gave Agatha a separate litter box) and privacy too -
so that Tobi is not after him even in the toilet. I told her to put the kitten
in her study room with the
litter box and food etc and leave him alone. Today
she rang, that Jaz used the litter box OK, she woke up
around 4 am and had a look - Jaz was OK, so she took him in her bed and he
slept under her covers. Today he was using the litter box OK. He is eating
extremely well and is really affectionate. I was there after work - he is really
beautiful. Tobi is a pain though, runs after him all the time and tries to bite
him and to paw him. Then they were asleep together in the kitten
house...There is no hissing but Tobi is rough and tries to attack
Sleepless first night as boys have learnt to divebomb their parents in the middle of the night. Both are doing really well and have put both Daz and I in our place. Will send more photos when I get them to stand still.
Both boys are doing well btw, both have grown into what i would think might be full size, and are still very curious, 'chatty' and getting into lots of trouble with our older moggie, who keeps hissing and growling as if he has never seen them before every time they come into the room. Moby is almost all covered in fur now, but Atticus is still not quite there yet. His favourite rising time is 4am at the moment! Do you have any tips as to how to get him to sleep in a bit?! I think as soon as he sees the slightest bit of light he decides it is time to get up and he scratches me to ribbons until i get up and feed him. But i love them both so i guess i will have to put up with it :) I have tried getting them to sleep in the lounge room, which they do but then come and scratch my door down at about 4 in the morning, and wake everyone up! The only other thing i had in mind was to get them one of those heated beds so they will be so warm they wont want to get up too early. My parents both really love the boys now, they weren't too sure to begin with but i think they have fallen under their spell! they get tucked up at night under a rug on the couch, and are given lunch if someone is home during the day. They are getting a bit spoiled actually. But they are so cute.. how could anyone resist : )
Narcissus
is really an intelligent boy. What he loves are totally different from other
cats. He loves to play with us very much. Like the game commonly played between
man and dog. Sometimes I just play 'ping-pong' with him.
He also loves to play the balls himself, so he never will be bored. The
most strange thing is that he only loves the yellow color balls. We
haven't tried to train him to do that. We never use treats or food to tempt them
to do any trick.
We are sure that Narcissus is the most intelligent cat in our home. I
learned that Devon is an intelligent cat breed but I have never thought that a
Devon can act like Narcissus. He not only brings us ribbons but
also much much fun. We are so lucky to have such honour to own him, a wonderful
cat we have never met before.
Sorry for the delay in replying, things have been hectic. Yes we have had a bit of trouble sending attachments I will try a few now but most of our photos have not been transferred from the old hard drive so I may put our 'Pussy cat gallery' on disc & send it to you. Our two little devils are good, they have absolute control of the house as you can imagine!! jemima is currently cuddled up on the lounge with Mick watching TV, they sleep on the kids beds at night because they have been evicted from our room due to Jim's naughty habits; he likes to cuddle up but then insists on stomping (claws out) and sucking on any naked skin not covered by the doona it's awful to wake up to a big white fat cat drooling down your arm. Any clues as to how get him out of this habit ......pleeeeease!!! They went for a visit to the Vet recently (minor eye problem) and our precious Jemima has been renamed Dr. evil by the Vet due to her anti social behaviour; hissing and spitting at everyone! She is just beautiful though she's a delicate little ball of fluff (Princess Puss we call her!) Jim outweighs her by double, he's a little on the 'chubby' side and is twice her size. We cannot remember what life was like before Devons....well except of furniture wasn't shredded of course. The cat run looks great we have added a small pond with waterfall and of course fish which Jem' spends all day watching, both of them have jumped/fallen in countless times. Jim is very vocal and screams if I don't cuddle him, I have just had to push him off my lap because he thinks he's a parrot and forgets he's too fat to sit on my shoulder now. He would be happy to be carried around all day. I have attached a couple of pics, one of them is of Jim hiding under the hallway mat, he gets under there and thinks no one can see him and waits until you walk past to pounce it is hilarious. Hope all is well with your bubs, talk to you soon!
Both
Merlin and Claudius are doing very well. Merlin's favourite thing is being
allowed to go outside so he can roll in the dirt and get as grotty as possible.
We
are starting the cat run this weekend so hopefully once he is outside a lot more
there wont be so many allergens inside and Jessica's asthma will settle down.
He is just gorgeous and we all love him sooo much it would be very hard
to see him go. Mick is handy so he will set up something down the side of
the house. Did I tell you last year chloe had an assignment for school (grade 6)
and they had to make an animal enclosure of some sort. She decided to do a miniature
version of your cat run complete with
house, ladder, and the bench around the inside of the house for the
plastic cats to lie on, wire and of course a shade sail. The teacher thought it
was fantastic and she got an A for it.
I
sent you through some pictures several weeks ago. I think perhaps the files were
to big. The girls are fantastic. Kato is still a bit naked but slowly getting a
bit of a coat. Roux is an eating machine! Both manage to get into all sorts of
trouble, climbing just about everything. They are great mates and have just
about managed to completely take over the bed! They are a little different to
Stella -
but certainly Devons. Even Kato and Roux have different personalities;
Kato is very intelligent and Roux wants far more affection. Both lovely!
Everything's
great the girls are getting on well. Chasing each other all over the house. Jazz
has a great temperament, and very well mannered compared Lelu. We are enjoying
there company and personalty.
Great to hear from you...I'm well. I am still at mums... think I am going to be there for a while now. Both the boys are going along well, they are still behaving like kittens even though they are officially 'toddlers' now. : ) Moby is very needy, he follows me around the place miaowing at high volume, wanting to be picked up all the time, and Atticus has an obsession for carbohydrates! He is forever pinching muffins, toast, coffee scrolls and crumpets whenever we are not looking. He is feeling the cold a bit, too now. He dives under my doona as soon as he has eaten. Moby loves my parents, and curls up on them whenever he gets the chance. I check your website every now and then, all the pics look so cute! Hope the girls are well through their pregnancies... better get some earmuffs for when the next tribe arrives! Noooo, he is not getting on my nerves, I am just amazed at how much he 'talks', Lizzy's cats hardly say a word, and for some reason I thought that Devons in general didn't miaow much. I am still crazy about them both though .Atty is getting to be quite a big cat, he is a little pig when they are eating, he will eat his food and then have a go at Moby's if he is not quick enough. They are starting to get proper Devon fur now, too. Moby more so than Atticus. I think he is too busy to grow fur : )
Zeb is just a pure delight and Ben (big fat Mist) has taken on the role of protector. Alby is in LOVE and is the playmate....we are just the cuddle-up humans to the purr machine which she most certainly is! Dennis loves to smooch up to her too, so she has truly captivated us all. Here are a few photo's....hope you like them, sorry but I have no idea how to resize them. Thanks again for bringing her into our lives.
Just to give you an update on our "little lady" who has completely and utterly stolen our hearts! Well, she is doing wonderfully.....all upset gone. The boys (human and feline) are totally besotted and even Dennis the Menace (the dog) is in love! LOL!! Zebedee was not put off in the slightest with him in fact they sniffed noses first off and that was it! No arch of the back no hissing I think she thought if she could put up with a boisterous Bengal and an enormous Mist what was the problem with a wee brown dog! So please rest assured that all is well and I must say it was lovely to talk with you on Saturday and I apologise for being such a chatterbox your poor phone bill?#* I mist the "purrfect" photo opportunity yesterday with them all (dog included!) on the bed all "taking it easy" life is sooo tough! So I will keep my camera at the ready so you can see "all is well" in the Gorman household!
Kiyoshi has settled in really well He has completely taken over the house even
Snookems basket it
appears his is not as comfy as hers. She lets him get away with it if he is already in there but if she is
in there she wont let him in. They are getting on really well chasing and wrestling with each other its
so funny to watch were always calling out to each other to come and watch the cats. He also
doesn't like to be locked in the laundry of a night so I have been leaving him out so after taking delight in
jumping on my head for a few nights , unsuccessfully trying to sleep in the bed with me he has found a very comfy spot on the end of my bed.
He like snookems also finds my cup of water next to the bed much nicer than his so the two of them now drink from that
of a night time When he needs a cuddle he walks around the house looking like a little lost soul meowing it is so funny you cant resist
but pick him up and cuddle him then he snuggles in and purrs. He is such a sook and loves his food
where snookems doesn't eat much so he eats his then goes to her bowl to see if he can get seconds
(typical boy).
Gorgeous is an understatement! Zee as I call her is absolutely wonderful, still very upset not interested in food or exploring her surroundings but I know for some this takes some time, others like Alby just walk right in. Zee is upset with the boys and won't let them get close hisses and snarls...the boys to their credit don't retaliate, just sniff shrug (if they could) and plopped down in her vicinity..lol. What a purer...she slept snuggled with me under the doona much to my delight! and the boys horror as they were put in the garage for the night as they usually play and go crazy most of the night and with it just being me I don't mind, its hilarious! However I wanted her to just have a quiet night and I am trying to introduce her slowly to the boys and their antics!!! I am sure when she has settled she will show them some of her own!! So thank you so very much and I will keep you both posted!
We were looking forward to
getting home so we could see the latest pictures of our little boy he looks absolutely gorgeous. What
do you call his coat pattern? We have decided on a name for him it is Kiyoshi pronounced kee
yoshi. Snookems is doing really well and enjoyed lots of mischief attacking the xmas tree (she loved hitting
the baubles off onto the floor and then chasing them also she decided the tinsel was pretty tasty so we
had to put that up higher so she couldn't reach it as we thought it might get stuck down her throat so
our xmas tree looked funny as there wasn't much on the bottom half) she is also enjoying her daily
walks in the garden with the beautiful weather we have been having. We all still absolutely adore her
and are really excited about getting a little friend for her. When Kiyoshi arrives we will have 3 kids,2 cats, 2 dogs
and the horse ( I must have lost the plot ! ) I wouldn't have it any other way it is so much fun!
Julie has scanned a few photos of Merlin and Claudius. As you can see in the last photo, though Merlin is a year younger than Claudius he's quite a stout little fellow. He absolutely loves each evening when he can go out into the yard, roll in the dirt and chase insects :) Hope all is well in QLD.
Just
a note to let you know how Kiyoshi is going. I think Chloe told you when
we walked into the freight warehouse we could hear him meowing very loudly just
like you said he would be. And when he came home he ate and drank a lot and hasn't
stopped since he is a real little gutz. For the first few days snookems
was hissing and was really cross every time Kiyoshi went near her. She would
even sniff us and if we had Kiyoshi's scent on us she would start hissing and
try to scratch us. So we separated them and let Kiyoshi have the run of the house
and locked snookems in the lounge room as she often sleeps most of the day in
there on her favourite chair anyway. We would let them near each other only when
we were with them and kept telling snookems not to be silly
he is her new little
friend and we spoilt her and took her outside a lot. Also I gave her a couple of
squirts with the water squirter when she got really nasty and I am happy to say
now the last couple of days they have been playing together although still
supervised just in case. This morning they have been playing tiggy and chasing
each other all over the house Kiyoshi is a real boy and loves to tease her he
bites her tail or swipes her with his paw then runs and gets up on some thing so
he is higher than her or hides in something she cant fit in. We cant believe how
clever he is. They have both exhausted themselves and are having a snooze at the
moment. He is just gorgeous we love him just as much as snookems such good fun.
He is a real sook, snookems has the run of the house of a night time and
happily sleeps in her basket in the family room ( except when she comes in my
room in the middle of the night for her drink or to play in my bay window) but
we have been locking him in the laundry with his comfy bed and stuffed toy and
he meows for a little while then settles down then at daybreak he starts meowing
again so I let him out and he hops into bed with Chloe or Jessica. Snookems
slept in the laundry when she was little and you never heard a peep out of her.
Its funny how they are so different he meows and purrs a lot more than snookems.
He is of course being spoilt rotten and he and snookems enjoyed Chloe's fish from
her fish and chips last night hand fed of course! Have you still got the other
babies or have they all gone now? Hope all is well.
Here
are a whole heap of pictures with our friend Troy and his daughter, Paige,
who absolutely loves loves loves Lido. I can't believe how mild mannered he is
with her. She picks him up in all sorts of ways and he has never lashed
out or meowed! His latest thing is clawing up our legs to either cling to our
hips, or all the way up our back to sit on our shoulder. That is how I
made breakfast for myself this morning - with Lido sitting on my shoulder! It's
really very cute.... although my dad thinks I should try and discipline him so
he doesn't ruin our clothes, but we aren't very good in that department and I
think it's quite sweet anyway!
How is the new litter going, I have attached a few shots of Lelu taken a couple of weeks ago. She is growing fast and just starting to get a coat. Julie and I are really enjoying her personality (a very fun cat), she never stops with her antics. We had to fish her out of our fish tank which we usually have a glass lid on, but Julie had it off to clean the filters, Lelu decided that she would jump up as she usually does to watch the fish, but alas there was no lid. Gave her a bit of a fright. She brings allot of happiness to both of us. Talk to you soon.
We
just wanted to send you a few photos and an update on our family's antics over
the last year. They love their new home and seem to be more playful now
with the introduction of carpet and stairs! They were spoiled for
Christmas with several new toys and additional strings. Monty has an
obsession with his strings - he drags them up and down the stairs. Up the
stairs in the morning and onto the bed while we are sleeping, and down the
stairs by the end of the day - he has four and is very protective of them.
Ike will play with anything that moves and even things that don't! They
are still night and day different in terms of personalities and food likes and
dislikes, which keeps us on our toes. If
you come to Sydney for a show or even just a visit, let us know so we can come
to the show or maybe meet for dinner. We would really like to meet you in
person and thank you again for the two little gems that have changed our lives
forever.
I
have not been in contact due to lack of puddy photos! However that has changed
and you can see just how beautiful and handsome our young man has become!
Yoda is doing well - he are Martyn are as thick as thieves. He has claimed
is new home and patrols it regularly. His past times includes accompanying
our neighbour while she gardens (and I am sure provides her with instructions!),
catching the old lizard, cockroach and has even proved himself as a good mouser!
He continues to find suckling on his tummy a pacifying habit. We
love our little puddy, he has brought much life, laughter and entertainment to
our lives. Thank
you again for our little Toda (other names include Gollum, Smeagol and Mr Pink
Bits - he likes show his tummy off!).
In
today two rings, Narci got 4th and 5th Best Cat respectively. The results are
pretty good. The comments by judges: nice balance of weight, nice boning,
nice structure, very soft curly coat(nice coat!), nice ears, round and bright
eyes, nice profile of head. Luckily a judge still felt it well groomed though
white Devon is hard to be kept being 'white'. It was so challenging!
Just
want to tell you what happened to Narcissus in today cat show. Narcissus
finished two rings today's and got 4th and 7th best preimer cat out of
eight cats. Before the show, I was so worry with the insufficient coat. However
one judge stated that Narcissus has much coat compared from the Devon in CFA. I
believe his coat is so nice. However, it is really very very very very very
difficult to keep it bright white. Fortunately he still was a white Devon'
and we gave him bath again tonight and hope he can do as good as today. I hope
to share how delighted I am. Though not too many local people love this breed,
there are still many foreign cat lovers(I think they may live in HK) paid
attention to Javeron Narcissus. I can share what I experienced with Narcissus
with the cat lovers. It is meaningful! We must thank for your kind and wonderful
offer. It is really a nice cat!
It is winter here now, so the hair of Narcisuss grows much faster. I hope it will be OK for showing. I believe he will be the first Devon Rex shown in the local show and he will be one of the focus there. I will report to you about the show as soon as possible if I really can show him. Narci now is eating well and doing enough exercise. I think his condition is steadily ideal. Attached is the photo of Naci with his best friend ricky which is also a neutured male Devon adopted from a friend few years ago.
Sorry it has taken so long to get
the photos of Shino and Tashi to you. As
you can see they love their cat tower. They are both doing really well and are a
delight. Shino is extremely
affectionate, sensitive and thoughtful. Tashi is also very affectionate and is
the very curious and outgoing one of the two. They make a wonderful pair
together. It is a happy and harmonious household with all 3 cats.
The old boy enjoys them immensely, they all sleep together now in a
delicious pile of fur and are always washing each other.
I hope all goes well for you and your other lovely cats.
We
have been watching kailahs beautiful babies grow each week and have been eagerly
awaiting the birth of marikos babies chloe
and I have really enjoyed it Snookums is doing really well we all love her to bits We would love a red
boy if there is one available look forward to hearing from you hope everything
is going well up there in queensland
Lelu is doing great- she settled
in pretty quickly it took about two hours for her to wonder around the house and
get to know us. She slept with us for the first couple of nights so I think that
helped. She enjoys all of her toys and was pleasantly surprised that she used
the kitty litter straight away. No little accidents. She is currently tearing up
the house she goes hard for about 30 minutes and powernaps for 15 or so and then
back into it. She is a very loving
cat she follows me everywhere even doing the housework.
Julie and I adore her and will keep you filled in on her travels in the
coming weeks.
Thought I'd give you an update on
our little devils!! Well it's official they have completely taken over the house
and have us all (yes including Mick!) eating out of their little paws. Speaking
of eating I am quite sure J.B has hollow legs and becomes VERY vocal when he
thinks he's hungry which is always, if we are not careful he will be fat in no
time. Jemima has turned out to be
quite placid and spends her time on Jeremy's precious 'blanky' sleeping (we
can't believe he gave it up for her it has been sacred for nearly 8 years!) or
sitting behind the curtain watching over the backyard, Jim on the other hand
likes to be wherever we are and will meow until you cuddle him and then once
content he's had some attention insists on terrorising Jem' so they both have a
few battle scars from their wrestling.
This is just a quick email to give
you an update on the georgeous girls Tortie and Rosie ( Alias Shino and Tashi).
They are going REALLY well, winning the hearts of everyone they meet!
They are very healthy and very happy and are growing beautifully. They have
quite different characters which I think helps them get on so
well. I am in the process of
getting a photo of them and will send you a copy as soon as I get a decent one.
Merlin is the happiest little chap
out. He's tubby and loves his food
- any food :) We'll get some
photos on the web eventually and get them up to you.
We would like to send you two
photos of our Devon boy. He is now a big happy boy. The long long summer
here has gone. The weather is going to be pleasantly cool. His coat grows more
rapidly now. We have applied him for the cat show coming on December. He really
is a lovely cat. We live happily with him. He is totally different from other
cats. He needs us very much and love to sleep with us. I have never thought that
a cat can act like him. He is so human oriented and loves to be around us.
Though he is quite playful, he never destroy our house. He is a real Devon! Thanks for the news - hope all
goes well with placing the kittens in good
homes.
Our little boy is doing well he is
so lovely he has been sleeping with Danielle all my girls adore him.
His temperament is perfect. He is growing and has fitted in so well He is
more than Imagined thank you
Javeron Narcissus is now bigger and grew to his great shape,
though there is a little belly. He is a very good eater and eats every kinds of
food. We think it is better to
control his diet now as the need to attend the show at this year end. He is now
registered to US CFA with the name of Javeron Narcissus. Just want to say thanks
again to your nice offer, he is really a great Devon!
Yes his coat is coming out but slowly. He seems bald, so sometimes he is
being mistaken as a Sphynx. However the vet and some cat lovers know what is he and couldn't resist to touch his wonderful warm
skin. We believe he will be a great star in the show if he get a full coat.
Merlin is doing very well at the moment. He and Claudius instantly bonded and do everything together now. He's very much the same sort of temperament as Claudius. He's a very sweet natured kitten – starts purring as soon as we touch him. Claudius and Merlin are always running around the house having a grand time. The other great thing is that Merlin has bonded closely to Julie (which Is what I wanted because Sebastian was exactly the same). Merlin flops on Julie's lap every chance he gets and laps up the attention. We'll keep you posted on how he's going.
Ike and Monty just wanted to let you know that they are well and
they like their new humans. Monty
won't let us out of his site when we are home, and Ike likes to get into
mischief. We tried a bath about a month ago, but Monty freaked out.
Ike wasn't happy, but he tolerated it.
Should we try another bath or is there something else you would
recommend. Otherwise they are tearing around the house, getting into mischief,
and being so cute when they sleep. We
have been neglecting our other duties because we just can't tear ourselves away
from their charms. We have sent you
a couple of pictures so you can see how big the babies have grown!
I am just telling you how Snookems is she is going very well and
she is very playful I love her to pieces she is now eating and drinking allot
and getting a bit fatter around her tummy she is sitting with me right now. We
always fight over who is going to hold her because we all love her.
She is so much fun to have around she is always following us and since
there is a door in her room when she needs to go to the toilet or needs a feed
she scratch's or meows at the door which is she is very good. We have taken
millions of photos of her but we have not got them developed yet so when they
are developed I will send some pics to you.
We have ordered some rainbow balls, a pink lead and a pink harness (just
about everything we buy for her is pink) ok I better go now I will email you
again sometime.
I just wanted to let you no how Snookems is going well at the
moment she is sitting on my lap half a sleep because she has just woken up.
She has grown a bit but I still like to call her a little baby.
She is still as cheeky as she was when we first got her and playfull I
love her to pieces and all my friends think she is georgeous to. Every morning when you are lying in bed all of a sudden you
start hearing this MEOW MEOW MEOW over and over again so the I have to get up
and get her out of bed and then she just runs around the house and then she
jumps up on to your bed either for a cuddle, just to let you no shes up or to
get up on your bed and drink your water out of your cup (thats if you took a
drink to bed the night before). She pulls the funniest faces and she does the
weirdest things that I have never seen another cat do before. Even when I went to my friends house to sleep the night I
missed Snooks so much and I was so surprised because I didnt think I would miss
her that much but I did. She just
hopped off my lap and probably wants a run now she will be all hipo. We got her
injections and that all went well and then while we were there we got some
shampoo and we tried bathing her but it didnt go very well so if you have any
tips that would be great. Since we have a spare room which is next to my room
that’s her own little bedroom but she will have to move out of there soon
because it will be a new bathroom in there soon and since my great aunty loves
cats she bought her a little basket and a really nice cushin that is flea proof
so she dosnt have to sleep in a cardboard box anymore (but when she first got it
she still slept in the cardboard box for a while which was pretty funny.
Well we didnt think we would have to go back to the vet for a long time
but when we were out we left her out because usally we lock her up incase she
gets into any trouble but this day we left her out and there was a jug with a
little blender in it and it was full of water and she must have tipped it over
and then was playing with the little blender in the bottom and it cut her foot
and then when we got home there was blood all over the bench and she was sitting
there with blood all on her neck and so mum picked her up and then she rang some
vets and none were open exept for moorabin vet so they took her up there and she
just had a little bandage but is was very sad because she couldnt walk on that
foot but since she is such a tough little thing she managed and now she is as
good as gold. We all love her to death and she hardly gets a run because usally
everyone is picking her up and cuddleing and recently I had pheonomia and I was
very bored but she was the one that kept me company.
We just wanted to send you a couple of pictures to show you our
beautiful boys! We also wanted you
to see how they've grown and how their colourings have changed (monty's).
Monty still has course fur running down his back, but Ike's fur is the
softest I've ever felt. We love petting both and they don't mind it too much!
In terms of personality, Monty is the talker, climber and user.
He constantly meows and I think he is trying to imitate our voices and
inflection. He gets annoyed with us
when we don't understand what he is trying to tell us.
Monty also loves to climb and has claimed the top of the scratch post as
his own. He is also a user and has
earned the nick names of "monty the mooch" and "yo-yo" as he
gets pats from Chris, then moves on to me, then goes back to Chris and so on
until he's had enough. Ike on the
other hand is a whole kilo heavier than monty due to his food stealing antics,
but is only slightly pudgy. He is
also the cassanova of the family and starts purring before he even jumps into
your lap for pats. He loves kisses
and being carried like a baby with his tummy being stroked. He knows he is beautiful and takes advantage whenever
possible. He is still quite wary of
strangers, but once he gets used to them, will take pats from anyone--as will
monty. The boys are the centre of
our existence and we don't know how we ever survived without them!
They are great study buddies and help me with the house work, they
especially love helping make the bed (or unmaking it!)
However, their favourite pasttime is definately napping and doing so in
the most unusual positions. We
hope you don't mind that we keep in touch, as it is hard to find anyone to chat
with who loves Devons as much as we do.
Thanks for sending through the photos of the little boy. I
printed them off and Julie has them strategically placed on her table and desk
so she can look at them and show everyone her new kitten.
Just wanted to give you an update; both boys are doing well.
They are eating and sleeping (and doing their business!), they have
settled in really well. Haven't had any 'accidents' on the carpet, they are
quite happy with the litter tray, I used Max's kitty litter as you suggested, so
they are feeling quite at home in there. "Batty"
eats like a horse, and is almost hyperactive, he likes to try and climb the
curtains, and is very alert, racing around all over the place and chasing the
toys. Moby is a little quieter, and
starts to miaow if he cant find Batty anywhere, both love cuddles and they seem
to like to sleep on top of each other, almost smothering one another!
When I left for work this morning, they were both under the doona with
Andy, fast asleep. He is as rapt
with them as I am, which I am happy about.
I could go on forever here, but I have work to do! Liz took a few
pictures, although her camera wouldn't work properly, so there are not many.
I will forward them on once they have been processed and scanned in. OK I
had better go, oh, and thanks for the little package with the balls and the
food, and the worming/flea control stuff. What
a surprise! I cant wait to go home
tonight.
I have found out about the toes, I woke up this morning to a
nibble on my big toe! They are very
entertaining to watch, I usually end up ignoring the tv and watching them
instead! They are so beautiful, and
cheeky and playful. I was home sick
yesterday, and I had to go and shut myself in the bedroom because I was
exhausted! they love to be around
us, and it’s funny when they have finshed their antics they snuggle up in our
laps and are fast asleep, just like toddlers after a big day. The only thing I
wanted to ask you is how to clip their claws, the skin on my legs has been
shredded from them climbing up me! is
there a particular way to go about it?
Boys are doing really well, eating like horses and seem to like
chewing everything. I gave them
each a chicken neck on Saturday afternoon, Atticus more or less inhaled his, and
Moby just sat there hissing and growling at everyone!
I couldnt beleive such noises could come out of such a tiny kitten.
I was just thinking of you the other day. Our little Cayla is
sooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous and is so loved. Her affectionate ways have not
dwindled at all. She is so clever and such a great companion, we love her to
bits. She has remained quite petite
and a lot of people think she's still a kitten, but she's a feisty young thing
especially with Rusty the dog whom she likes to pretend she doesn't like but
really does. Please keep in touch
with all the recent litter info as I keep thinking of this little playmate for
Cayla !!!!
The girls are settling well, are just lovely and we are enjoying
them VERY much. They are settling
extremely well and are just adorable.
Hopefully you will remember me, Dan and I got Lido and I from you
in March - Lido, son of Mariko! I
thought you would like an update on how he is going. He is such a great cat, he
has absolutely the nicest personality, none of our friends can believe it!
He is still a little bit naughty - like he knows he is not allowed on the
bench and every night after we go to bed I
can hear him there, playing with the dish cloth of all things, dripping water
from it all over the floor! And
last night after dinner I walked down to discover he was eating butter out of
the packet! But it is all that sort of thing that gives him so mush personality.
He has learnt to walk on the lead pretty well, although I don't think he
will ever get used to the cars (we are talking veryinner city though!).
I mainly just lead him to the park next door and he has a play around (he
brings so much joy to all the homeless who live there)
Although yesterday I walked him over to a friends house where he played
with her 2 year old while we did some work and that's where the attached photo
was taken. We are now vaguely thinking of getting another one as a
friend for him - it is such a small
devon world, everyone seems to know you and your cats when I tell them where
Lido comes from! It's lovely,
actually, everyone is just so willing to give advice etc. Anyway, I will continue to keep you updated every now and
then with his life.
Just thought I would drop you a line to say g'day, and to give
you an update on the boys. They
have grown SO big since they arrived here, Atticus is still bigger than Moby,
but he is catching up gradually. Moby
has got a good covering of fur starting to grow, and Atty has only a little bit.
They both have the little tufts behind their ears
: ) They love climbing up on to the kitchen bench to talk to me while I
make my cup of tea, or boil up some porridge. I am terrified they are going to
sit on the hotplate, but they can sense the heat and so they seem to be quite
safe. I always put something over it though when I have finished,
just in case! The water pistol
comes in handy quite often. Moby
was sick on Saturday night, I got up on sun. to find little puddles of sick on
the floor, and some poo as well. he
wasn't eating and was looking very frail and tired, so I am betting it was him.
maybe both of them? I dont
know. Atty was still eating, but then nothing much stops him.
So I let them sleep in my bed all day, and gave them plenty of water and
little nibbles of food. Moby is much better since last night. I wasn't sure whether I should take them to the vet, Liz said
to keep an eye on them and take them if there was no improvement. But they are
both bouncing around like usual now. Mum
said she saw on Harry's practice a tissue box with some holes cut in the side,
and a ball inside - just like the toy Atty used to like at your place, so I made
them one and he loves it! We made
them a scratching/climbing pole, too which they love.
I am having problems with my computer, which is my I haven't emailed until now. He is the absolute cutest thing, Dan has taken a few days off work this week to spend some "bonding time" and I have been at home as well and it is just so much fun. He has been so good – no problems with the kitty litter or the furniture and each night he sleeps in between Dan and I, under the covers!! (Although gets up a couple of times for a few plays and run arounds!) He is so sweet, he sleeps on Dans lap and then gets up has a stretch and comes to mine and keeps changing every now and then - very fair! It is really just a never ending source of entertainment and pleasure watching him play and discover everything. He seems to discover one more (higher) thing everyday. I don't know if it is just us, but we can't stop saying how happy he is with us (it's just that we are happy with him!)
